IAF Delhi 2022

I boarded the flight with bubble-wrapped artwork in my hand. I held them close to me as precious as I felt them to be, to make sure they reach their destination on time and intact. I stepped off the plane feeling a sense of relief. The night before, I was worried about how I would manage to transport the works to the capital of the country without much trouble.

As I walked into the Indian Art Festival 2022 in Delhi, I could feel a sense of pride and yet so humbled by the presence of great artists, each carrying with them their own story and passion for art. I sat down on the floor to pull out my works, making sure they were all set to be presented.

My panel was prepared and my work went up on it. I held my breath as I saw the work hang beautifully beside some wonderful artists.

It was a moment of truth. An acknowledgment from the world, recognizing me as an artist.

I did wish that my dad was around to see this. I am sure he’d be proud. I could almost hear him say, “You’ve done well. Keep it up. You still have a long way to go. Don’t stop and don’t give up.”

I walked the hall and spoke to brilliant artists about their astounding work. Stood by art that I resonated with it. I felt like I was emersed in a world of art. In a world where the language was color, texture, and design.

I’ve got a lot to learn and a lot to experience. I’ve started my journey and am excited to see where it takes me.
