The Creator's Block
I’ve come across the creator’s
block. However, not as much before, since, I always sat down to create only when
I had something in my mind and that is mostly because the other times I would
be working. Now that my only job is to create, I am in face to face with the
creator’s block!
I wake to moments of zero
inspiration and motivation. Being a person of schedule, I like to have plans in
place and as I had mentioned earlier, up until now, I always had the “things to
do” drafted for me. Something like, drop my kid at school, yoga, work and back
home. In between of this schedule, I’d fit in a quick sketch or a read.
My inspiration would have met me somewhere during the day which would drive me
to bring my sketch to paint during the night.
Now the responsibility to find
the impetus lies with me. The drive to get creative is not going to come to me
as I lay back. I have to get up and get moving. A walk, a read and good music
help me find my groove.
I’ve found that when I show up,
the creative universe is awaiting to back me up. Put the pen to the book, paint
to the canvas and it will find its way, taking the creator by surprise. The ask
however is to show up.
So, let’s show up so that our
creative mojo finds a way into the world.
