My Creative Process

A lot goes on in one’s head. Well, I’d like to think that it does, not only in mine! There is constant dialogue with myself, with the universe on what is happening and how I am feeling. I go with the saying that, “My head is like a browser with tabs still loading”.

So how would I get across all of that, to get my art out of me?

Art to me, up until quite recently has been about the process. Which is the design, color, canvas, layout and the layers. But slowly, I’ve been learning to let go of the process to discover what comes more naturally.

To be more honest, I think the pieces I like the most, from among those I’ve created are the ones that I probably messed up the first time around and then let loose to see what is possible, cause now it can’t go wrong, as it was already messed up in the first place. Such pieces give me a freedom to explore on what comes naturally. At that point somehow the dialogue in the head changes. It is not about what happened or what is going to happen. It is about the now. The color, the texture, the composition and how I feel about it. It stops time. It allows for me to flow in the moment, all so naturally.

That moment, is when the creative process takes over. It cannot come out right the first time you put down paint and not even the second. As the layers build up like the lessons in our life, I learnt to let go of control and let thing happen and that’s when the magic happens!
